Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit was originally intended to be a 10th anniversary game. It does not shy away from the signature jumpscares that made the franchise so popular. Here are ten things we wish we knew before playing Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into The Pit.
10 It’s A More Narrative Focused Game
A Retro Adventure
Right off the bat, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into The Pit looks like an entirely new genre of game. Like Five Nights At Freddy’s: Security Breach, the game is far more explorable than the original titles where you are stuck in a room fending off the animatronics.
You will not only be dodging animatronics when the occasion arrives, but you will be interacting with other characters. They all have something interesting to say or will give you the next steps in your quest. Of course, dialogue does not mean there won't be screams.
9 It is Based On A Novel
A Short Story Reimagined
While Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into The Pit may seem like an entirely new entry into the FNAF universe, it might be older than you think. The game is based on a novel of the same name which was released back in 2019.
The book is a compilation of multiple short stories written by different authors. The game adapts the first short story and even expands it with additional characters, locations, and more. So if you’re already a fan of the book, you will find some familiar faces and some new surprises.
8 Take It Easy Or Go Extreme
Horror Newcomers Are Welcome
There are four ways to enjoy Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into The Pit which makes it great for both horror beginners and veteran fans. There is a difficulty modification option before you start the game which adapts to your playstyle.

So the question is, do you want an experience that will be tough to chew now and then, or would you prefer to just enjoy the narrative of the game play out? Later, you can even unlock a nightmare difficulty for hardcore horror fans.
7 Is Five Nights At Freddy’s Into The Pit Canon?
A Tricky Timeline
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into The Pit has many unique elements such as time travel and possession. However, is it canon to the timeline? The answer is both a yes and a no.
The events of Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into The Pit are not canon, yet the games contain canon elements sprinkled throughout. It is known that most of the novels follow their separate canons. However, that doesn’t stop Scott Cawthon from sprinkling in a few details that later get added to the true canon.
6 Your Progress Is Impeded By Puzzles
Can You Save People In Time?
While many other FNAF experiences focus on managing your power or keeping the animatronics at bay, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into The Pit focuses more on hiding and light puzzle solving.
You’ll be able to interact with different characters from time to time, which will require you to perform certain tasks for them. One example is a boy trapped inside the skeleton of an animatronic. He’ll want you to free him. Then you just gotta figure out how to get it done before something horrible happens.
5 Minigames Galore
Fun And Cryptic Games Galore
It wouldn’t be a Five Nights at Freddy’s game without a few minigames scattered around. The franchise is known for keeping secrets hidden deep within the game and Into the Pit has its fair share of minigames kept secret as well as part of the narrative.

We hope you like creepy animatronics.
There are many minigames that you can access while at the arcade, such as a puzzle that has you rearranging Freddy Fazbear’s face. Other minigames just crop up normally during the narrative, such as Skeeball. However, there are also cryptic minigames just like the original, hidden around.
4 The New Jumpscares
A Game Of Hide And Seek
So, before you jump into the new installment of Five Nights at Freddy’s, you might be interested in how jump scares work. Sometimes, an animatronic will suddenly appear, while other times there will be a sudden environmental change.
For the most part, you only need to worry about the Golden Bonnie animatronic that suddenly appears in the doorway. Seeing him will prompt you to run away and find a place to hide. Once you hide, you’ll need to stay very still and hit the quick time events otherwise, he will find you.
3 There Are Time Travel Elements
Uncover The Past To Save The Future
One element unique to Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit is the use of time travel. After finding yourself in the past when Freddy Fazzbear’s Pizzeria was active, you do not return from your trip alone. A horrible Golden Bonnie appears and snatches your dad.
When you finally get him back, he doesn’t come back the way you remember him. No one else sees anything wrong with him, but to you, he is the golden animatronic that you encountered before. Now, you will need to keep traveling back in time to save him.
2 There Are Multiple Locations
Explore The World Beyond Freddy’s
One unique element that you may not be expecting is seeing multiple locations in one Five Nights at Freddy’s game. Usually, each entry has you locked inside a building, either trying to survive the five nights or escape from the complex.
